WipeOut HD - Custom Soundtracks (And Other Features)
So I own every WipeOut game created, that includes the video game abortion that is WipeOut Fusion, the first version created after Psygnosis got absorbed into Sony. Needless to say I'm slightly excited about WipeOut HD, even though I don't own a PS3. I will own this game.
Sony just dropped a huge list of things that will be featured in the final release. included in that list is a a list of the tracks that will be included and the teams. Most of that is pretty much what you would expect from the series. The features are really where it is at.
Pumping soundtrack: Feel the beat with 9 fully licensed music tracks, all remixed in Dolby 5.1 surround sound for an even more intense game experience.Custom Play lists: As if that wasn’t enough, WipEout® HD also supports ‘Custom Play lists’: playback your own music using play lists created in the PS3™ XMB.
Anyone who has played Fusion knows how disappointing the in-game music can be, and considering that the final release only includes 9 licenced songs, it is pretty safe to say you're going to want some more tunage before everything is said and done.
Online play: Up to 8-players will be able to compete against each other in a range of online races.
This is the final selling point for me. Computers are great, but shoving a rocket up the bum of a friend is simply more rewarding.
WipEout HD Tracks Announced [Three Speech]

Why do you not own a PS3 when you write about videogames ?
@ hmmmm:I'm sure there's some snarky comment to made here about how PS3's don't grow on trees, but...
This is awesome! While the WipeOut series can be trusted to provide a great soundtrack, this just about promises my first day purchase. On a related note, I really wish that WipeOut XL was up on the PSN. I would buy that in a heartbeat!
Sooooo excited for this.
And Asterick... seriously dude... it's time! PS3 is awesome now. Time to get off the bench and join the fun.
is it wrong that i'm more excited for Wipeout HD than i am for MGS4? :-/
@DJ Fluke:
Not at all. Same here. I <3 WipEout.
@hmmmmmm: No snarky comments here, I simply don't have the cash lying around to buy one. If Sony gave me one, I would have been on board months ago. I usually give Sony a year of "maturing" time with their consoles, as their release versions tend to either fall apart or a newer, better model is out to replace it.
I am going to be getting a MGS4 bundle, however.
5.1 soundtrack? Do they think before they do press releases like this? I mean *music* in 5.1. ?!
Other than that, yay for wipeout, loved my copy of 2097...
