Cosplayers Make Guinness History!

Hey, remember when I told all our UK readers about the Guinness World Record attempt to gather the "Largest Gathering Of Games Characters?" Well, I guess none of you showed up, because I never heard from anyone. But it turns out they did it. There were eighty characters on the Millennium Bridge in London, and while that sounds like an impressive number, keep in mind that 30 of them were mini-Marios from Argyle Primary School in Kings Cross. (Oh, heck, it's still an impressive number!) "I have had a great day," said one of those adorable moppets. "I have met all my favourite characters -- the best one is Tails from Sonic!" Really? Tails? Ah, he's just a kid. Look at them all... they're adorable!
The eighty characters who showed up have now made a place for themselves in Guinness history, and will appear in the Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition 2009. So basically, we've got less than a year to gather 81 people together and beat this record. Come on, who's with me? Oh, who am I kidding... you couldn't pay me enough to put on one of those costumes... well, maybe one with a full mask so no one would know it was me!

If there was one of these in SF, I'd be totally for it.
This is a silly record. I guess the Guiness folks have never been to an anime convention? Heck, our Smash Bros. cosplay gathering for A-Kon is scheduled to have 30 cosplayers alone - not to mention all the Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, and Zelda cosplayers roaming the halls.
With 14,000 attendees, I guarantee there are more than 80 video game cosplayers in one place at the same time.
I wish I could've been there in my Tingle costume, but it's kind of a long trip from Ohio to England.
Wootini, of course i would of wanted to come! but atlas, I Have my studies in S.F, my guild in Wow to look out to and Smash brawl to play, I'm swamped!
But then, if it would come here in california...
Let's see... Dante or Volvo? maybe bridget then (laugh!)
Mamma mia! Thats'a lotta Marios!
As a crappy photographer myself, I just want to say how rubbish the "professional" photo is. Yeah yeah, lots of Marios (and they are super-cool etc) but the other characters are lost in the distance. Plus theres a rucksack in the pic - this is about as impromptu as Big bloody Brother (i.e. totally staged and somewhat unreal).
I'm only down the road from there, and contemplated attending in Starfleet uniform.. glad I didn't now. Although I would've at least had the chance to punch Bubba(?) from Boogie! p
edit:
that last comment should've ended with :-p
I don't really want to punch cosplayers. Even the EA ones.
