D&D Creator Gary Gygax Dead At 69

If you hadn't already seen this on VelvetDiceBag, Gary Gygax, the father of all things Dungeons and Dragons has passed away. If it weren't for his genius and ingenuity, we wouldn't have half the amazing games we have today. He will be sorely missed...

This is quite sad, several friends and I used to get together at least once a week to play AD&D.
RIP, Mr Gygax
I'm a big D'n'D fan, but still, this shocked me.
RIP Gary Gygax.
He created something that became so big.
Sorry that's supposed to say I'm NOT a big D'n'D fan.
Even Gygax could not roll a natural 20 to avoid death.
Too bad he didn't have a phylactery.
I used to date one of the guys who worked at TSR back in the day; they all have some pretty wild stories of the time.
I know that a lot of them today will be reminiscing about the great old days of D&D, the games and characters they used to play back in the day, and the kind of odd process that led from a game they played themselves to the runaway success that D&D and AD&D eventually became. I wish them well.
Even the ex. ;)
R.I.P. Gary. Thanks for all the good times.
RIP, Gary. I only just started playing D & D myself (I'm currently a measely Level 4 Gnome Druid), but we nerds have lost a King today. He gave us something which we geeks could rally around and socialize over, something which was uniquely our own... Something which "they" on the outside couldn't get into. It is a sad, sad day indeed for greater geekdom.
At Friday's meeting, I am going to make sure we start off with a toast.
i honestly cannot imagine what my life would be like if i hadn't discovered D&D back in 1978. RIP, gary, and thanks for many, many happy times through the years. even though i'm a warcracker now, i see your influence in every RPG and fantasy game i've ever played. i'll be pouring out some ale onto the ground for you. props and respect to the original dungeon master, yo!
Yes, the King is dead...
I, like so many nerds, thank Mr. Gygax for his work and imagination. Which led to way to so many adventures and happy memories.
Co-Father
Tee hee. 69.
I hope he burns in hell for sucking away the the already-pathetic lives of people all around the world.
I'm kidding.
(Or am I?)
