Dexter Game In Works
As a fan of the show Dexter, I am not sure if I should be happy or scared by this news. Marc Ecko Entertainment announced that they have entered an agreement with Showtime Networks to produce a video game around the award winning television show Dexter.
Dexter is a show (based on a series of books) following Dexter Morgan, a serial killer who hunts, well, serial killers. The show is a fantastic drama centered around him and his pathology, which his father taught him to channel into good (in the form of vigilante justice) rather than evil. Along with this, Dexter must keep the facade of a normal life. A girlfriend whom he says is equally damaged as himself in her own respect, a neurotic police detective sister and a job as a forensic hematologist.
The show has a certain sense of humor that is borderline sadistic, very dry and I'll be interested to see how it translates to a video game medium. I for one will be very angry if this turns into a cookie cutter adventure throwaway like those budget CSI titles you find on the Wal-Mart bargain shelves. A "plant the heroin" minigame would be pretty sweet though.
