Kojima Claims Blu-ray Not Big Enough

The Metal Gear series has firmly planted creator Hideo Kojima in the stone list of grand game developers. His ambitions are huge and his passion for his craft shows in every title he creates. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is the finale to his Metal Gear Solid series, and has become one of the most anticipated titles of the year. Stalwart Snake fans, and newbies alike are eagerly awaiting the latest masterpiece from Kojima-san.
While discussing MGS4 with Japanese publication Famitsu, he explained that the rather large storage capacity of the Blu-ray was simply not big enough for the game he wanted to create.
Kojima: For us, we're not still not satisfied with the quality we can do. You know, there's not capacity space.Interviewer: Wait, wait a sec. Saying there's not enough capacity, are you talking about Blu-ray?
Kojima: That's correct. There's not enough space at all. (laughs) ...There's not enough space. We always talked about where to cut and what to compress.
I've heard of developers complaining about DVD size constraints, but never the size of the Blu-ray disk. Mr. Kojima, I admire your ambition and can't wait to play your latest game.

Such a size queen....
You have got to be kidding me ... they could have gone dual layer you know lol.
It's kind of funny that someone would actually brag about being inefficient (unless what he's really saying is that the PS3 doesn't have the CPU power to uncompress all his textures, and that seems unlikely.)
Sony should force him to enter a 64K compo just to humble him a little.
Dear Hideo Kojima:
Learn to compress you n00b!!!!!
There go all the MGS4 on 360 rumors.
Given how much this game has been delayed, lord only knows how long this game would have taken if Kojima had had all the space he wanted.
and what about throwing in a second disc? if ps3-users can tolerate a 20 minute long installation procedure before enjoying a game, they sure don`t mind swapping discs which should take about 10 seconds...
Wow, with more storage space they may have been able to attempt colors other than brown, really brown or light brown. ;)
please bear in mind, this isn't the first time he's come out saying Blu-Ray doesn't have enough space for his game. A year back he stated it wasn't big enough for a 20 gig discs and he wanted the 50 gig discs.
But I'm betting it's audio compression, considering with 5.1 surround sound and that takes up too much HDD space. And this is Kojima we are talking about, he's obviously spending too much time with Codec sequences for characters talking on for hours about Gun models, philosphy, movies from the 60s, types of Rabbit poo, "love your box and it will save you"and "Your room was empty, like your HEART!"
What does it matter? Don't PS3 games all install to the hard drive anyway? LOL ;-P
