Where In The World Is My Xbox 360?

I love customer service stories. They're often nightmares of poor communication and misunderstandings. So I was amused to read a story about poor Christopher Dunn in South Carolina who contacted his local news organization so that 7 On Your Side could track down his missing Xbox.
See, Dunn's Xbox 360 just stopped working one day, as they are wont to do from time to time, and he sent it back to Microsoft for repairs. And then three months later, he still doesn't have a replacement, and no one at Microsoft can even tell him where his console is. Nice. The news organization checked the tracking information and learned that it had been delivered properly, and although Microsoft admitted they'd recieived the system, they couldn't say where it actually was. Although at this point in the story, they mention that Microsoft sent him an empty shipping box, so I have to wonder if he sent his console in himself without waiting for the authorized box. That could screw up your tracking information, I'd wager.
Of course, as with any situation that a consumer advocacy group gets themselves involved in, there is a happy ending. 7 On Your Side contacted Microsoft and got them to admit that they lost Dunn's Xbox and didn't know how. And they're making good by shipping Dunn a new Xbox immediately. Too bad it took a third party to get some satisfaction for the poor guy...
