Persona 4 Announced For The PS2

It's really quite impressive how much good press was revolved around Persona 3. The title, innocuous as it may have been originally thought to be, wound up selling out essentially world wide, leaving lots of gamers wishing they had jumped on the band wagon. With little more than a month until Persona 3: FES is release, news of a sequel has already been announced.
Persona 4 follows a slightly less emo, slight more bowl cut character this time around. Teamed up with Chin, the girl in the green track jacket and oh-so-short-skirt, the game looks like it will play much like the previous title. Along with Chin, the protagonist also has a family this time around, giving the game yet another social string to maintain.
Persona 4 is set in a rural world this time around, no longer taking place in a busy metropolitan area. The game is said to contain between 60~70 hours of game play.
Interestingly enough, the game is being developed for the Playstation 2. While I understand that the system is pretty much in every home in Japan, it still strikes me as a bit odd that for such a late blooming title they would create a new game for the system, especially with the reduced priority of backwards compatibility in the Playstation 3. Something to be said about the legacy of the PS2.
No US release has been announced by Atlus USA, but it is pretty safe to assume that it will be localized eventually.

I must say, my feelings go out to those who own the PS3 sans Emotion Engine. But even so, using emulation would make backwards compatibility no different than the 360, right? (of course, it will take much longer for devs to emulate their way through the PS2 and PS1 backlog)
The PS2 remaining a viable system after the "next-gen" jump has been a curious phenomenon to observe.
Well, the 40gB PS3 is completely PS2-less. It has pretty much solidified the fact that I'm going to be getting an 80gB come June.
Glasses are the new evoker.
I have to say, it mostly looks like the same thing again with an added weather system. Then again I'm a fan of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" so bring it on!
