Americans Love Gaming Online, Japanese Still Not Game

Don't get on the internets!

MyVoice recently did a poll consisting of 15,000 Japanese and found that the majority prefer to game with people in the same room. Americans, on the other hand, no longer feel that a gaming console should come without the feature. As for the Japanese, about 50% are still wary of gaming on the interwebs. Interesting, don't you think?

EvilAvatar point to Nintendo and Sony being so slow to get on top of things as far as the online part of gaming is concerned. What do you think of this?

Personally, I'm with the Japanese on this, I could do without online and would rather play with people in the same room.

Plural does not equal possessive, people. You guys really need a copy editor.

Well I say why not both? Bring a friend with you to double teabag some master chief!
I'm telling you it's more fun when you go online with a friend, not alone!
But then brandon has a good point... internet is still a privilege and it's really bothering when your friends says: "can i play with you?" and the game only has online features...

As much as I enjoy the online mode in Smash, I would still rather play with friends in the same room. The last game of Melee we had before Brawl launched was non-stop hilarity and you just cannot replicate that, even with a headset/mic.

This makes me mad. It seems game companies have it all wrong. I think having online capabilities is necessary it most multiplayer games today. But it shouldn't deter anyone from having a friend over and playing face-to-face.

See, in my situation, none of my friends game. Very few do. And the ones that do, dont' live anywhere near me, so it's really hard to play together. We've managed with friend codes though, thus far (though it's been tricky).

Yeah, I don't play online either. Tried it but it never really took for me and one of the reason why I never got round to buying a 360 as one of the selling points is Live. Prefer having friends round. I do feel for those whose gaming friends live far away. I grew up in an environment where I could get all my friends in the same room so I never found enjoyment playing online that quite matches it.

It's also why I never got into MMO like WOW either. It's either single player, or friends in the same room. :D

Well, another reason why I'm not really that fond of online is because of the cheaters. Granted, its harder on some consoles then others cause of cheat devices, but it still happens on cheat deviceless consoles.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
