Rock Band In-Game Store Update Now Available

rbstore.jpg

The update for Rock Band that I mentioned yesterday is now available for download over Xbox LIVE and the Playstation Network. I checked it out this morning and I must say it's a terrific addition. The download was very short. On my console it took less than five seconds and it was done. This of course will vary depending on your connection speed.

The store looks slick and includes some nice album art. It's extremely easy to navigate and being able to go through the songs individually is quite nice. No more going back out to the dashboard just to download your song. So, walk, don't run to your PS3 or 360, pop in that Rock Band disc and enjoy your new store!

The addition of the in-game song store was sorely needed, especially with the poor layout of the PSN store for finding songs.

The previewing of the songs is also a welcome relief, as I had to keep going back and forth between my PS3 and my computer to keep loading up song previews from iTunes to make sure if I wanted to buy the song or not.

I love the new store. Now if only they could add some pre-caching so there wouldn't be so many pauses as you go through the lists of songs, then it would be perfect.

Oh great, now it's easier for me to waste money on this stuff. ;)

Previewing is a godsend and I can't wait until I can buy some albums. I know that people complain about some of the prices, but I really think that Harmonix is doing DLC right with Rock Band. What other developer is supporting their game at this level months after release?

The prices are cheaper than the Guitar Hero 3 stuff and it supports more instruments. Glad to hear that this is now up, going to tap into it shortly. Maybe buy some songs in celebration...

Previewing songs is long overdue. However, my only complaint is that when downloading a song, you have to wait for it to finish before moving on. Sure, it doesn't take long, but I'd like to browse the store some more while the track finishes downloading.

Oh, and I noticed that after the update, it seemed to take a lot longer to load and save in between songs. Hopefully that'll smooth out the next time I play.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
