Silly Gamers, There's No DLC On The Wii!

simon_cowell.jpg

Okay, so I found this odd little "notice to consumers" on the Konami news page, and it would seem that some of the people who purchased Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Encore are kicking up a stink because they can't download the new songs that have been made available.

There seems to be a miscommunication regarding downloadable content for Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Encore. Please be aware that it clearly states on the packaging that only the Xbox 360 and the up-coming PS3 versions support downloadable content. We apologize for any confusion, please feel free to contact customer support with any additional questions.

I'm curious how the game has sold across platforms, because I'd assume an American Idol game would do better on the Wii because a casual audience would be more inclined to pick it up, as opposed to more hardcore gamers who would have to hide it under the couch when their friends came over. Still, I'd hope that with the development of WiiWare, Nintendo is finally catching up to Microsoft and Sony in the arena of downloadable content. Hopefully additional content for games will be coming soon. I know there are probably a whole lot of Wii Guitar Hero owners who would be more than thrilled to spend their Wii Points on new songs!

I read an interview where the makers of rock band were talking about DLC for the wii's version of rock band. All they said was that they were working with nintendo to get it to work.

yeah they have stated that there WILL be DLC for Wii sometime by the end of summer(i think).
i'm guessing it totally has to do with the WiiWare portion going live.

Mario Kart Wii basically has DLC.

The funny thing is that Konami is apologizing for customer confusion, which sidesteps entirely the complaints of their customers. It's like when you ask a parent why you can't do something and their response is, "Because I said so."

That said, wouldn't it be cool if Smash Bros had DLC? Do you know how much money I'd spend for a new fighter each month? Mega Man anyone?

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
