Tiny Dancer Interviewed On The Escapist

mediamyth.jpg

Our own Tiny D. (aka David Edison) was recently interviewed by the always amazing Brenda Brathwaite for an article on The Escapist entitled The Myth of the Media Myth. It explores the feelings that non-gamers have for the game industry and how closely it is or is not tied to the mainstream media's presentation of the industry as a whole. It's quite an illuminating article and as always, Tiny sounds as clever and smart as he is in person. That is, after all, why we keep him around. The article is a great read and anyone interested in games vs. non-games media would do well to check it out.

Wow... David (Tiny) had a ton of quotes in that article and Brenda basically uses much of what he says to begin to make the point of her argument, that it is a myth that media causes the strong sense of resentment in the general populous.

I really found the comments from developers in the last few pages to be interesting too as they relate why in general people have a dislike or fear of videogames, especially how parents "always think kids are wasting their youth", as Tom Forsyth said. All in all it is a great article and hopefully as videogames become more present in society they won't be viewed in such a negative light.

On a side note, I just want to say how much I love the Escapist... I remember when they first started a few years ago... it really helped me pass the time at my programming job back then ;)

Congrats Tiny!
