Tiny's PS2 Pizza Party, Episode 2: Buzz! The Hollywood Quiz

Hi y'all, and welcome to the second episode of Tiny's PS2 Pizza Party, wherein we discuss the effects of Buzz! The Hollywood Quiz on a group of young(ish) gay men. But first, let me be clear about something:
This is the gayest party game ever.
"Why?" You may ask. I'll tell you why: does any other video game in recent memory ask the player to specify the color of Elizabeth Taylor's eyes? (Violet, of course.) Or to name the pictured wife of actor Robert Taylor? (Barbara Stanwyck.) Or who played the role of Mrs. Robinson in The Graduate? (The late Mrs. Mel Brooks.)
Have you ever been to a gay Oscar party? This game has. Have you ever had catty movie trivia dialog with your gay friends? This game scores it. The whole game takes place on a virtual Oscar-style stage with a smarmy Australian (and seemingly bi-curious) blond host (the eponymous Buzz).
So my tipsy friends and I squealed in delight as we dove into Buzz! The Hollywood Quiz, which makes up for its slightly annoying edge with a whole lot of Hollywood love and enough camp for - literally - a roomful of gays. Read on to get the gossip...
The Hollywood Quiz offers two levels of difficulty, but as with all things trivial the difficulty of the over 5000 questions vary from one to the next and from person to person. You can dive into a quick solo game or play with up to eight players - which is nice, because even the guy tasked with refilling the wine glasses likes to shout out "On Golden f*cking Pond!" once in a while.
We were really impressed with how thoroughly Buzz! The Hollywood Quiz captures the feel of a great quiz show as well as a Hollywood awards ceremony - Relentless Software deserves a nomination for the style and consistency of a fun game that could easily have been a boring mess.
A lot of the trivia mechanics from Buzz! The Mega Quiz survive, with time trials such as Pie Fight! and Fastest Finger seeing who can get the correct answer the quickest; a true or false game; ranking games where answers must be put in chronological or grammatical order (ie, "A" "Streetcar" "Named" "Desire"); a pick-your-own-category run that lets you, that's right, pick your own category from which to answer questions; and various betting-style games that challenge you to choose whether to keep the points you've earned or dare for more and risk losing them all. Then there are the countdown trials, wherein correct answers boost your remaining time, not to mention video clips, still frames, quotes, and just about any other way you can combine the words "Hollywood" with "Quiz."
It's a riot, and I had to force my cadre to quit so we could play the third and final game in the Tiny's PS2 Pizza Party series (tune in tomorrow!). Buzz! The Hollywood Quiz was so fun that I've been playing the single-player game on my PS3 (where, at least on my launch-PS3, it plays perfectly) on a daily basis since. I've also had to schedule a rematch.
Obviously, the game isn't Brawl - it isn't going to satisfy your hardcore gaming jones, and it may even leave you wanting to try your hand at a more conventional party game. But if movies, stars, trivia or total sassy bitchfests are your thing, Buzz! The Hollywood Quiz is so the game for you.
