Video: House of the Dead 2 and 3 Returns Wii Gameplay

Well, House of the Dead 2 & 3 Returns creeped out for the Wii a week ago and it came out so quietly that I completely forgot about it. You folks in the UK still have to wait until March 28, but those of us in North America can get some ghoul shooting action immediately.

It's been a long, long time since I played the original House of the Dead on the Sega Saturn, and it has been about two or three years since I played 2 and 3 on the Xbox (2 was unlocked after beating survival mode in 3). For the price of $29.99, I think I will splurge on House of the Dead 2 & 3 Returns this coming weekend for some good times with friends. Plus it will be an excuse to pick up the Wii Zapper.

You know you love these games, but do you love them enough to buy this compilation? Perhaps some more gameplay footage will turn you over if you haven't made up your mind already. For more footage, make the jump. ...but before you go, if you have a certain aversion to bad voice acting and the word "reload," skip the videos and move on to something else. Enjoy!

After watching all of the videos, I'm almost certain a retraction of my last message from the previous House of the Dead article is necessary—

While the game seems very "arcade," it appears as though no effort as been made to enhance their quality from their original dingy medium. The graphics, voice acting, gameplay, and pace are amazing. . . if you wake up and it's 1997. My nostalgia of late night arcade binges blinded me for a second, but now I can clearly see the D- this release will garner.

I'm afraid without a revamp, I'll have to pass on this Wii title.

There is a trend of ridiculously lazy developing for the WII, especially from big companies like Sega.. yet more reason why I don't own a Wii and piracy is rampant, why should someone be expected to part with £40 for a game that is inferior in every way to every other console port.. bar a couple of exceptions.. I had to get a piracy mention in, as it appears to be my projected gimmick as a poster here.. note: I do not own a Wii..

The Crap to gold ratio on Wii is much higher than any other current gen console, I can think of 5 great games, Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Smash Bros and erm.. there's another one I forget, you know the one I mean.. and about 350 lousy ones, the 360 doesn't have many utterly terrible games, just loads of mediocre ones, same for PS3..

Just having fancy controls a good game does not make..

I spent over £30 in one weekend back in 97 on HOTD, and I finished it, HOTD2 was much, much easier and they've gotten progressively easier since..

Sega, EA et al need to book their ideas up, the general consumer is already abandoning the Wii as a games console, only buying 2 games a year etc..

Yeah, this title is mediocre at best. Rented it, and it's a straight port, the kind a company does when they want a quick buck. There's been nothing done to improve it in any way, and I found the game to be quite hard, the boss battles can be very tough just like in the original and your limited to five credits and three lives initially. You can get the lives up to four and five, which you'll sorely need - I couldn't beat the game even on easy.

My personal wish is that the Time Crisis series gets released on Wii soon, now THAT was a great shooter game.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
