Video: Left 4 Dead "Gory Gameplay"
Valve's zombie apocalypse simulator Left 4 Dead looks to be coming along nicely in the clip above. Personally I'd like to see more of the rural environment. Fighting zombies in the city? Old hat. Fighting zombies in a cornfield? I hope my heart can take it. I'm already a little iffy about driving through the countryside, toss in farmers vomiting acid and clawing my eyes out and I might never visit the produce aisle at the supermarket again.

This game is very near the top of my "DO WANT" list for this year. Looking better all the time.
I really like a lot of the zombie animations, like the lady zombie that is stomping on the viewer puts her whole body into it, head moves realistically. Same with the zombies that are running at you, they're arms move up and down then back out to the side when they slow down, it looks like their weight shifts slightly, their heads move a little in a realistic way. The zombie hit with the butt of the shotgun stumbles backward, throws her arms out to catch her balance. The hair on one of the characters moves up and out a little when he spins around. Good stuff. :)

Looks stressful. Why can't the city be infested with purring kittens instead?
Would you really want a game where you ran around shooting purring kittens?
