Is Sony Worried About Xbox 360 Price Cuts?

Is Sony worried? I would be.

Microsoft recently slashed prices across all Xbox 360 models in Europe. Is Sony worried about this? One analyst at Strategy Analytics says yes. Here's what David Mercer had to say:

"Sony will be nervous that the PS3's recent sales surge may fizzle out now that the premium Xbox 360 undercuts the PS3 by £40, and the cheapest Xbox model is almost half the price of a PS3."

He added, ""Sony will be scrutinizing the daily sales reports, but will probably try to hold out until later in the year before making its next price move." Mr. Mercer believes that Microsoft should continue to cut manufacturing costs if it wants to see its first profitable year for its gaming division. I think Microsoft will be able to do just that. As for Sony, well, I really have no clue when (not so much how) they will react. No doubt they might be worried that this recent rash of price cuts will cut into their current momentum. At least the good news for Sony is that Metal Gear Solid 4 is right around the corner. Right? What do you think will happen?
