BBC On Your Wii

The BBC iPlayer allows users to watch recent BBC programming on their computers via the web, and last month, they made it portable by making the iPlayer available for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Now, their goal is to bring it into the living room and let people watch the service from their couches, and they've done just that by making the iPlayer compatible with the Wii!
According the the official BBC iPlayer website, if you have a Nintendo Wii, you can use the Internet Channel to view the player and watch your favorite programmes right on your TV set. Unfortunately, at this point, you do actually need to own or buy the Internet Channel, but they do hope to get the iPlayer directly onto the Wii without that purchase being necessary. I suppose with its own channel. They also warn that iPlayer on the Wii is still in beta, and they will be tweaking the specs over the coming weeks to optimize video quality.
Oh, right. One more catch. It only works in the UK. Bastards. I want to watch current episodes of EastEnders and Dr. Who! So not fair! (I need to move to England...)

Never fear, Wootini...if it does well enough on the other side of the pond, maybe someone will find a way to make it work here in the states. Let's make those hackers useful for something!
