Beat Brandon Walsh!

Nintendo continues to pull out all the stops to promote the launch of Mario Kart Wii. You'd think this was a big deal for them or something... Anyway, I told you yesterday about the free cab rides in New York City, but I've actually got an update on the launch party for Mario Kart Wii.
Turns out that the competition won't just be between the gamers. Nope, you'll have the opportunity to challenge Jason Priestley from Beverly Hills 90210 fame in a race. No idea if he's a gamer, but he is a racer. He co-owns the Rubicon Race Team, which will compete this year in the Indianapolis 500. Priestley himself hasn't been behind the wheel since that nasty accident, if you recall.
To repeat, the NYC Mario Kart Wii launch party will be held this Saturday, April 26, at the Nintendo World Store in Rockefeller Center from 2-6 pm. So come on out and test your luck! Still no word from my contact on whether or not you'll be able to buy the game a day before the launch date, but they've done it before. And at the very least, you'll get to try it out, and maybe meet Jason Priestley. (I wonder if he'll autograph my 90210 pilot videotape...)
