IndieGames.com Interviews Kian Bashiri (You Have To Burn The Rope)

You Have To Burn The Rope, mentioned here, should not be nearly an entertaining as it is. I blame the song at the end, it really ties it all together. Kian Bashiri (Mazapán) set out to make a game that lampoons many of the complaints about modern gaming in this enigmatic and astonishingly literal game. Now, much like Chocolate Rain, the Portal song and that darn dramatic chipmunk it is blazing across the internet as a wacky inside joke.
The folks over at IndieGamer.com managed to sit down with Kian and discuss his game and what was going through his mind when he created it.
IG.COM: Can you explain YHTBTR in your own words?Kian: Well, it is a joke. And I don't want to say too much about it, because dissecting a joke always makes it unfunny. Part of it is this really silly idea, and part of it is this statement about how games are too hard and complicated. It's also a subtle reference to how some games are kind of patronizing toward the player, like too easy.
Amusing game aside, the boy is quite the "cutie patootie" to make a Rosie-ism. I expect good things from him in the future, especially in the world of casual flash games. Keep up the good work Kian. For the unaquainted, you can play his game for free at his web page. If the game appears to be broken and unplayable, you must update to the latest flash player. Be sure to check out the full interview over at GameSetWatch.
