Kill The Rumor: No Diablo 3 Announcement

d3-box-mock_qjpreviewth.jpg

Fansite Diablo3.com has been keeping a countdown timer marked for May 1, when "half the web" will, it is claimed, link to the site. Why? No idea, but the folks behind Diablo3.com are trying to squelch rumors of what it is not. They aren't trying very hard, however, since traffic makes the world go round - but one thing you can count on is that an official announcement of Diablo 3 isn't going to come from a fansite:

In the past days there have been a lot of activity in the network sites after the countdown teaser. A few forum threads keep continuous debate between Diablo fans of what this announcement will be. I have given a few responses of what it is not, to make sure fans won't be thinking the wrong thing. We have made no claims and expect fans to not get caught up with the wave of speculations and rumors in the forums and the web to the point to believe them.
Things the May 1 Announcement are not: 1. It is not an official announcement of Diablo 3 2. It is not about an upcoming Diablo novel 3. It is not a Network merge

Please resume your previously scheduled a-wishin' or a-hopin' - I'm right there with you.

No Diablo 3 Announcement Forthcoming
