Konami Registers Castlevania: Order Of Ecclesia
The Castlevania series has been pretty quiet since 2006's Portrait of Ruin. Sure there was the PSP remake, The Dracula X Chronicles, and the mobile game Order of Shadows which no one really talks about, but as for new games? Nothing but promises and hints. Well, it seems like that might be about to change as Konami has registered a US trademark for a new title for the series: Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia.
As for what the game will be, your guess is as good as mine. Probably better! Series producer Koji Igarashi's been talking about a new DS game for a while, making it the most likely candidate, but it could also be a full game for the current generation consoles, or something for the downloadable services. The "Order of" in the title might also mean we should expect a remake of the cell phone game for new platforms, or a sequel to the mobile game. I'm crossing my fingers for a big(ish) screen outing for the game on PSN, WiiWare, or XBLA, but I'd be happy with another outing on my DS or PSP as well. If it turns out to be another mobile phone game, I'll just sit this one out, thanks.

I remember a rumor a while back about a possible 360 exclusive Castlevainia game. However I hope this is another great 2-D game, because IMHO 3-D Castlevania's just never come out good.

3D Castlevanias need to end. How about a 2D console release using "Odin Sphere"-ish animation?
