Let's Begin The Operation... Again! Trauma Center DS 2 Announced!

173348-1.jpgTrauma Center: Under The Knife is my favorite DS game to date. It showed the rest that the handheld's unique touch screen feature was destined for greater things other than mini game compilations and half baked N64 Ports (yes, the girl deserves much better than that). It was also a very excellent game in itself, providing a challenge, be it paced slightly awkwardly, and a fresh concept. Who else but atlus could come up with a game tackling magical powers, the ethics of euthanasia and medical terrorism?

Though seeing two sequels (one a remake) on the wii, it's future on it's home-system was in the dark. Until now. Announced yesterday, Trauma Center: Under The Knife 2 brings back Dr.Derek Stiles and Nurse Angie Thompson as they deal with the mess that's left in the wake of the GUILT epidemic.

It looks like Altus has gone all out to build on the foundation laid by the already excellent original. The biggest change is the graphics, which instead of the crudely drawn anime style of the first, borrows from it's wii brothers (and looks all the better for it judging from the screen shots). Also addressed is on-going series' flaw, the overwhelming difficulty by including an "easy-play" mode. In addition there's all the stuff that a sequel should have: New tools and ways to implement old ones and new operation types just to name a few.

Even though it's not expected till July, I'm already hella excited! Anyone else readying their scrubs?

As usual, click the jump for the Press Release.

I still for the life of me can't get over the change in character design since the first DS game. I tried to sit down and play the Wii version, but I just couldn't bring myself to continue playing after a few minutes. It's the eyes, I think.
