Mass Effect PC Version Delay, HUD
I know many of you have been loving you some Xbox 360 alien on girl action from Mass Effect since the game was released last November, but not everyone has ponied up the money to get the Xbox 360 yet. For all those PC enthusiasts out there fervently awaiting for the game to release on the PC platform, there's good and bad news. I'll give you the bad news first, since I've always had a penchant for a little pain before my pleasure.
The bad news is that Bioware recently announced on their community forums that the release date for the PC version of Mass Effect has slipped a little bit:
I have just confirmed with the development team that we are making a small change to the release date of Mass Effect for the PC. We had previously announced May 6, 2008 for North America. The new release date for North America is May 28, 2008 and June 6, 2008 in Europe.The team here at BioWare, working closely with the good folks at Demiurge Studios, has decided that a few more weeks in the studio will ensure we deliver the quality that our fans deserve. The additional time will allow us to incorporate more play-testing feedback, add extra polish and tune the additional features so that Mass Effect is a natural and outstanding PC gaming experience.
Overall it's not too long of a wait and I am sure if you waited this long to play it on the PC, you should be able to hold out until the 28th of May (or June 6th for our friends across the Atlantic pond).
Now for that good tingling sensation from the eye-candy that Kotaku has for all of you. Along with the adapted controls for th PC version of the game the developers have decided to also update the HUD for the game, and Kotaku has recently posted a few screenshots of the HUD that will accompany the game's transition to the keyboard and mouse world of the PC. The new HUD layout looks sleek and sexy and has a bevy of information at your fingertips (or mouse clicks). Consider this to be the loving kiss to help soothe over your little boo-boo, just don't be asking me to make you a sandwich afterwards.
