Metal Gear Solid 4 Beta: LIVE
So apparently the beta of Metal Gear Solid is already online, for all territories to boot! I guess this means that fans of the rugged, scruffy neck-snapper should be scrambling to their PS3 right now!
I guess that the delays on the beta finally worked themselves out. Be warned of a small patch that must be downloaded, and it is recommended you spend some time in training before actually going online.

I would spend time in training, if i could log in. Servers are too busy it would seem. haha, its been a complete shambles! I may just wait till tuesday, that way the servers wont be so clogged, with GTA out!
I expect to spend more time in training than the online game itself. I just want a close look at the environments, controls, etc.
After about three different patches and upgrades and a lengthy Konami ID creation process...I got in...and it looks pretty sweet.
Unfortunately, I am not great at this type of online play...so I'm sort of afraid to exit training mode.
I didn't even finished reading the article and leaped from my PC to go play!
The patching process with BitTorrent was surprisingly fast, and I got right in my first match after making a character.
I didn't even see a Training option, I think I would have appreciated it. The controls are a bit goofy (you have to hold down both shoulder buttons to fire), but I'm not very experienced with action console games so I'm keeping an open mind.
I was disappointed with the graphics though. I was expecting 1080p, but it looked 720p; which is noticeably garish on large TVs.
'all territories' you say... minus anyone in the PAL region tho... even if I log into my US account with my Japanese PS3 it still tells me that the European Beta has been cancelled (and I'm in Australia).
thanks for the heads up. I have a bum code from the preorder (god damn konami has fudged this whole thing up) and I've eben on hold for 40 minutes waiting for a human to correct this problem that I emailed them about on Sunday...
I did get two movie reviews written for ym blog and now I'm playing gt5....
I'm loving this game... On as "Jaesin", the crazy ass trying to play a Ninja.
yes, I sneak around with my stun knife, getting double points for stunning, looting, and killing :). Smokebombs too.
Saves a hell of a lot on guns, so by the third or fourth round I can go with an RPG two or three times.

I'm an Aussie, Sydney suburbs, and I'm in the beta, definitely not 'cancelled'. Due to planned outage times (0300-0500 CEST) according to the program it looks like it's based in Germany, and covers EU and Aus (at least).
What do you guys say we get a clan together on the NA servers?

I couldn't find a way to get onto the NA server, but that may be because I'm ignorant. So it looks like I won't be able to join you. Am interested in joining a gay friendly clan tho' ;)
