Nintendo Media Summit: WiiWare: Pop

Pop_Logo-2.jpg

Nnooo's WiiWare offering, Pop, doesn't seem much to look at at first. Walking by and seeing the screen doesn't really do much to pull one into the game, once you put your hands on it though, you find an addicting little casual type game that is really quite fun. The premise is simple. You are presented with a screen full of flying colored bubbles. Clicking on them with the Wii Remote causes them to pop and you start building up points. Continuing to pop the same color of bubble will start a chain, causing your score to rise even more.

The trick here is that your overall score isn't effected automatically. To actually get the score from the chain, you must "finish" it of by popping another color of bubble. Clicking on the background will also stop the chain, but it will also cause you to lose points. You can also score extra points by grabbing a bubble with the A button and shaking the remote up and down, causing the bubble to grow. Once it is big enough, you can pop it and anything touching it will pop too, upping your score. In the multiplayer mode which can be played vs or co-op depending on your mood, special bubbles appear that do things like zap your opponent with lightning or cause the entire screen to go black except for a little circle of light around your cursor.

If you're a fan of casual type games with a slow and easy addictive gameplay, check out Pop when it becomes available for WiiWare download.
