Nintendo Power VC Poll: Wii Want Earthbound
Asterick has Presented It In Retrovision, t shirts have proclaimed it, and now Nintendo Power has confirmed it. Twice.
Wii owners want to see Earthbound/Mother on the Virtual Console. A lot. In fact, the magazine featured a poll that asked readers what game they'd most like to see on the VC, and Earthbound beat out two of the most popular RPGs of all time for the number one spot, while Mother captured fourth place:
1. Earthbound2. Super Mario RPG
3. Chrono Trigger
4. Mother
5. Majoras Mask
Nintendo killed the Earthbound masterpiece demo slated for inclusion with the North American iteration of Super Smash Bros. Brawl and seems to have no problem ignoring what is an apparently massive (or massively active) fan base here in the states - but perhaps now they'll take notice and make it happen? A fella can dream.

I pray to the Nintendo gods every day for a DS Mother 1-3 DS compilation. So far, they have not listened. :(
If that means we're any closer to Mother 3 then I'm all for it.
Listening to a random french dude play it and kinda tell you whats going on just doesn't cut it.
YES! Someone in my fraternity "permanently borrowed" my copy of EarthBound, and since I can't figure out who, I badly want/need a DS Mother 1-3 compilation... or I'll have to settle for Virtual Console EarthBound in hopes that it brings Mother 3 stateside.
And Super Mario RPG was a great fun game too! I'm for that!
To be fair to Nintendo (my gods, why am I always defending this company? It is Stockholm, isn't it?), They also took out the Fire Emblem demo, not that anybody cares. The reason, I believe, for this is because those games simply aren't available on our Virtual Console, which is all that set of demo's is meant to promote. It's not an excuse for not giving us the game, but they're holding back a lot of great titles. I.E. Where was Smash 64 to help promote Brawl? Where was Mario Kart SNES to help launch the Wii counterpart?
It's all part of Nintendo's seemingly dice-driven system, and let's just pray that Mother falls on there somewhere, because I am so infinitely intrigued to play this series that I missed growing up, I feel like I missed the best party on Earth.
I'm sad not to see Secret of Mana on that list :(
Really, ALL of those titles need to be released, along with Mother 3. They're all such great games!
I know it's wishful thinking, but perhaps this is in the mag to drum up excitement over an announcement at e3?
