PS3 GTA4 Runs At 640p: Let The S*** Storm Begin.

Dear god, it never ends. The invention of HDTV seems to have broken, or inflamed some part of a small circle of geeky brains that causes them to do some of the most needless verification ever. This is, of course, pixel counting and field of vision verification.
Less than 24 hours of the Grand Theft Auto IV launch, several fans noted that GTA IV appears to be running at 640p, rather than full 1080p on the PS3. This is no big shock, many games use lower resolutions to pull a higher frame rate on complex scenes. It is a fairly good trade off, especially considering that the average gamer has not invested a large sum of money in their display.
No real drama has happened yet, no class action law suits or the like. Now, once word gets out that the 360 release runs at 720p, you can bet that there are going to be a lot of vocal idiots screaming "but what about me"?
Counting pixels: GTA IV runs at 640p [PS3 Fanboy]

Can't expect everything from a multi-platform game usually.
Let's face it R*, hates PS3.
•They can't even get online to work for it (GameSpy's fault also).
•Game freezes affecting most 60Gb models (and some 360 as well admittedly).
•Obviously upscaling
•Motion controls are reportedly FTL
•PS3 architecture is hard to work on
wow. i just looked up FUD on urban dictionary, and it had your picture, Dan.
first off, R* hates PS3 so much:
- they're doing an exclusive game for the PS3
- the dev team has come out on numerous occasions and said that the game is gimped, not because of the PS3, but because of 360's lack of standard HDD when developing cross-platform
also, if you got your facts straight, you'd know that it's "a few" and not "most" 60gb PS3s, and that those problems are also affecting 360s.
do a little more research and you may be surprised to learn that, even despite a lower resolution, the game is generally being reviewed as looking better on the PS3 than 360.
and finally, anyone who's surprised that the servers were down for a few hours on Day 1 has obviously never played on GameSpy's servers for any other game. the fact that they're up now means that in the grand scheme, it was just first day gitters...unless you love hyperbole.
sorry, dan, but your post is full of FAIL.
Woah. While "R* hates Sony" is an exaggeration, Dan still makes valid points, Fluke. But some of the points Dan brings up could be applied to any platform on the market.
-In my experience, Sony's online services have been "ok" at best, broken at worst, with this game currently between the two. Smash Bros. had problems on day one and Live had issues over Christmas. These things happen, but I think a lot of people are less forgiving of Sony's issues because it's nearest competitor (feature wise, the 360) just does it so well and just about effortless for the most part.
-Freezing is never cool especially when you just paid $60+ for a new game. It got me riled up after losing an hour of Bully progress. Again, this isn't special to one platform. It doesn't help the PS3's shaky reputation when it comes to multi-platform releases.
-Platform Differences: Let's all be happy there are only *minor* details what separate each version. Try to imagine the whining if one version was clearly better. Seriously, I don't want to live in that world. Either version you pick up is still a pretty good game.
-"640p": The big deal over "640p" needs to stop. I find it ironic that there are 360 fanboys making a big deal about this as if Halo 3 didn't display the same type of visuals. This also applies to PS3 fanboys that made a big deal about Halo 3's "SD" visuals while "defending" this when it hits their platform of choice.
-Gimped over hardware - 360 vs. PS3: The PS3 *is* difficult to work with, especially if a game starts development in a 360 environment. Also, MS needs to stop pretending that those memory cards provide any type of viable option to consumers, it's hurting devs in the process. Enough said.
"Motion controls are reportedly FTL"
Faster than light? We can do that?
Oh, wait...
