Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People

With Flynn off foot-loose and fancy-free at Ninetendo's shindig, I've been asked by the momma bird himself to awaken early and help bring tasty morsels home to you loyal readers. While I was "a checkin' da emails" this morning, I came across a lovely press release from Telltale Games about their new WiiWare game: Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People or SBCG4AP for short. For all those that may have missed out on who Strong Bad is, he's one of the more popular characters of the quirky and comedic flash website homestarrunner.com. In fact, Strong Bad has been featured before in the world of video games when his illustrious song Trogdor the Burninator was featured as a bonus song in Guitar Hero 2.
Well as for what the WiiWare game will be like, here's the nutrients straight from the mother's teat:
The episodes play like extended cartoons, during which the player assumes the role of Strong Bad--controlling his actions, hearing his innermost thoughts, and becoming part of his awesome world. SBCG4AP features the cast of characters and locations from the Homestarrunner.com cartoons, and the games are fully voice acted by Matt Chapman and the rest of the original cast.
Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People is a story-driven series with a comic spin that's undeniably Strong Bad. The player uncovers each episode's comedic plot through character interaction, dialogue-based puzzles, and the use (and abuse) of inventory items. In addition, each episode will be crammed with time-wasters to keep players poking around in the world, including Strong Bad emails to check, prank phone calls to place, and mini-games styled after the arcade games on the Homestarrunner.com website.
With Telltale at the helm, along with the continued success of the Sam & Max series, it's no wonder that the game will be episodic in nature. Telltale seems to be getting the episodic pattern down pat, and this new property will be a great way to see just how well their process transitions. At the same time it's great to see the studio working closely with the creators Matt and Mike Chapman in order to help keep the whit and humor that makes Strong Bad such an iconic figure.
Apparently Strong Bad himself has been trying to get a game in the works for years, and had this to say about the new deal:
"Telltale has been rejecting my ideas for green text adventures for years," laments thousandaire gadabout Strong Bad, "but we finally reached a compromise with this puffy 3D point-and-click-em-up adventure. They claim all the coding was done with green text, so I guess that's pretty cool."
One side note in the article is that the game will also be made available on the PC platform, allowing those of us not Wii enabled to get their fix too. Overall, it looks like this is definitely one game that every Wii (and PC) owner should be watching closely, if only to make sure that The Cheat doesn't get too close to the power switch.
Full press release after the jump.
