Video: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Console Specific Features
The newest video from the developers of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed focuses on what gamers can expect on the consoles with a little less horsepower under the hood. For the Wii, they describe the controls and really sell the idea of swinging around your controller and nunchuck to help you feel like a Jedi. On the PS2, they talk a little bit about the special missions that will be featured exclusively in that version of the game. For the PSP, claiming they wanted a pick-up-and-go experience, they added Lucas-approved "classic" missions, which let you play out memorable scenes from the movies. Lastly, the DS version lets you string together combos using the touch screen, as well as featuring several different multiplayer modes.
A few weeks ago, Wootini asked how gamers choose one console over another when it comes to multiplatform games. Are efforts like these appreciated, or are they just tossing a bone to gamers that haven't bothered to get all worked up over fancy graphics and new physics engines? Personally, I just want them to stop promising how some new feature will help me really feel "unleashed." Unless I'm playing some kind of dog park simulator, I never want to hear that word again.

But why not PC?!?!
Something to look into: My friend noticed that ALOT of games originally intended for PC have been canned for consoles only. Something to explore...seems EA is telling PC gamers to screw off.
i wish that more publishers would make the effort that LucasArts is making with this game. They are playing to each platform's strengths to make this something that is appealing to a lot of different players. But can I be totally biased for a moment and say that the DS version is pretty awesome? ;)
I guess I really do not understand why this game is being developed for PS2 instead of PS3 and XBOX. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
Fatricia,
The game IS being developed for the Xbox360 and PS3, but this video is just to tell people about what they're offering customers who buy the "underpowered" versions. From what I can tell, the PS360 games will have the advanced physics and AI engines they've been touting for months, and the Wii, PS2, PSP, and DS versions all get some extra content to compensate.
Pfft. The hype is so thick you can barely see through it.
If Force Unleashed ends up looking like a floating version of Saturday Night Fever, it just isn't going to matter. Live by the technology hype sword, die by the technology hype sword.
I know that most people will probably go for the advance graphics and AI, but after seeing this, I might pick up the Wii version just so I can swing a light saber. :)
The game looks it will play like the Dark Forces II series on the PC.
