What's That I Keep Hearing About GTA4 Sales?

Well, color me surprised. Nintendo is dumping a fortune into advertising Wii Fit globally, but, even with more than three weeks until launching in the US, it is beating the massive cash cow that is Grand Theft Auto IV. Then again, it could be that tremendous amounts of people are queued up tonight to snag GTA IV at launch instead of waiting for delivery.
Amazon top 10 shows just what is selling more than Grand Theft Auto IV [GoNintendo]

It's hard to say that Wii Fit is selling better than GTA IV just from the numbers on the Amazon Top Ten. For example, at Gamestop this week GTA holds the 1st, 3rd, 5th and 9th best selling spots; Wii Fit is the 8th best selling game.
Moreover, even on Amazon where Wii Fit holds the top spot, GTA IV holds 2nd, 5th, 6th and 7th spots. So even here GTA IV is probably selling better than Wii Fit, but the numbers are split amongst 4 different packages.
Ain't spin a wondrous thing, Brian!
One could argue that this is, in fact, a huge win for Nintendo..
The console everyone dismissed is now pumping out games that can match GTAIVs hype & pre-sales. It's a SYSTEM EXCLUSIVE and needs an ACCESSORY to play, yet it's at least the equal of the biggest multiplat cash-cow game of the year (which comes in multiple editions). Spin that ;-p
Well, where I am, after a quick enquiry, I'm too lazy to put actual effort into it, knowing someone who works in both shops is a help in this regard, GTAIV had already sold just over 200 copies at the shop I bought it from, The smaller shop in the city, that was at 9.15am.
The big shop, namely the Game will be exponentially higher over the day, the man I know who works at the shop said he walked past about 11.45pm for their midnight launch and they were queueing around the corner. Was told they had over 500 pre-orders alone, let alone the 70% of people who don't pre-order.
Also it should be noted that they've sold about 60 copies of Wii fit since launch, forgot to ask for the figures at Game, I'd say double to triple is about right.
Spin indeed, still here in the UK more crime is less crime according to Labour, apparantly.
We have 2 game shops in this city [of 230,000 people] if you're wondering why the numbers are so high for single shops.
