Wii Shortage? What Wii Shortage?

Okay, so this really doesn't help out everybody, but if you live in or near the New York City area, and still wish you could get your grubby little mitts on a Wii, all you have to do is head on over to the Nintendo World Store in Rockefeller Center. While there for the launch event for Teenage Zombies: Invasion of the Alien Brain Thingys, I snapped this pic of a whole pile of Wiis sitting behind the registers waiting patiently for people to come buy them and bring them home. That was on a Saturday, and when I went back nearly a week later, on a Friday after work, I still saw a few consoles on the counter.
So while the Targets and Wal-Marts of the world may have trouble keeping Wiis in stock, Nintendo seems to be keeping its own store well-supplied. Go figure. Now, I'm not guaranteeing you're going to find a console there, but if you can get to the Nintendo World Store, it's probably your best bet!

They also had Wiis in Panama when my cruise stopped there a few months ago.
So, you know, if you're in Panama... ;-)
The Nintendo World Store in NY has Wiis every morning. Guaranteed. Show up when the store's open and you're golden!
I was at that launch event! I ended up there by accident, I just wanted to go peruse their plushies. Who knew I was going to leave there with free swag. Totally awesome.
Daily shipments Monday - Saturday. I got my Wii there. They do have a strict policy of 1 Wii per person. You CANNOT pay with cash. You need a CC or debit card and a photo ID (because they've been having problems with people buying them and reselling them on ebay at inflated prices).
