Xbox 360 Set To Waggle Later This Year?

A media mole for MTV News has pulled the curtains back on Microsoft's oft rumored foray into the field of motion-controlled gaming peripherals. It is hard to deny the effect that Nintendo and their Wiimote has had on the entire gaming industry. What was initially received as a novelty has rocketed to cultural phenomenon, so much so, that Sony was quick to readapt with the Sixaxis mimicking Nintendo's motion controls, but without the inherent usability of the Wiimote.
Now, supposedly by the end of this year, we will see Microsoft entering into the gesture-gaming foray, and with a dubiously similar controller. The rumor has also spelled out that Rare will be taking the helm of content development for the new controller, and they have been tasked to create both a unified interface for the prospect and a Mii-style avatar system.
Microsoft's spokesperson replied to the topic by stating that, "Microsoft does not comment on rumors and speculation." But, as MTV News has reported, they have confirmed through multiple video game developers that such a peripheral is being tested.
If you recall, during last year's E3, Microsoft's big push was to be Scene It? and the "Big Button" Controller. Though the title failed to bring forth the casual gamers, the incentive to capture a portion of this market is still a prerogative.
Keep your eyes open for E3 2008, for this story may only be beginning.

Incredibly off topic, are we not allowed to comment GayGamers of the Week? :(
Argh, no...360 is the system I go to to ESCAPE crappy, poorly thought out motion controls/waggle (I want whoever wrote that particular control input code into the Wii devkit library flogged, seriously...)
I beg you, Microsoft, don't do it!
"we will see Microsoft entering into the gesture-gaming foray"
...that would be "again".
I used to have the gool 'ol Microsoft Sidewinder Freestyle Pro from a few years back, which was - more or less - a cabled Sixaxis for PC.
Heck, it even looked like a Boomerang...
I don't think you'll have to worry much, Shin, because a 360 wagglestick will have as many games written for it as the Eyetoy or the Gamecube bongos did.
Raindog, you say that as if the bongos didn't include one of the cube's best games. Jungle Beat is all win. But you have a good point. Even if MS made this thing, I'm not so sure a bunch of devs would hop on board.
Jungle Beat was quality, but it was no system seller, and it seems to me that's what Microsoft is going for here.
