I was lucky enough to get to attend a little preview party for the new Secret Agent Clank game for the PSP on Wed. night. It was a fun little soiree' where we got to see a bit about the game, play some Black Jack and I drunkenly amused all the ladies with my dead on Tim Gunn impersonation. But, I digress...
Secret Agent Clank is being developed by High Impact games, the same folks that brought you the excellent Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters (also for the PSP). This game fills in the gap between Size Matters and the PS3s Tools of Destruction, where Clank must rescue his pal Ratchet from space prison for a crime he didn't commit. Clank takes center stage with all new moves (Clank-Fu), a fancy spy persona (complete with Bond like tux) and a great arsenal of weapons including a Tie-A-Rang, Cufflink Bombs and the Tanglevine Carnation (that bears a striking resemblance to Audrey II). In classic R&C style, all of clank's weapons will be upgradeable throughout the game.
Secret Agent Clank also marks the first time that the pompous Captain Quark will be used as a playable character. The Gadgebots, Clank's army of helper robots also make a new and upgraded appearance to help save the day. Driving levels will also be available with various vehicles including a snowboard, a hydrofoil and of course a fancy spy car.
This game looks like a ton of fun, especially for Ratchet and Clank fans (of which I am a huge one) and I am currently playing through a bit of the game and I'll be sure to bring you all my impressions come Monday. Until then, rest easy with the knowledge that Secret Agent Clank will be coming to your PSP on June 17th in the US with Europe, Japan and Asia to follow.
