Price drops are always a welcome sign for frugal, strapped gamers or late adopters. Michael Pachter, probably the most cited analyst in the gaming industry, has dropped word that he anticipates a modest price cut near $50 to occur for both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 as we come closer to the holiday season. While this statement operates in direct contrast to recent statements by Sony, both companies would do well to increase their competitive edge against Nintendo and the fast selling Wii.
