Beyond Good & Evil 2 In Development: Wait What?

If you have not played the sleeper hit Beyond Good & Evil you simply must snag a copy now. It was released on just about every console under the sun, and frankly it is a must have.
... Okay, if you're still reading you must have finished playing and are deeply in love with the game. Liked that open ending? Of course you didn't. The game is ancient and there is no sequel in sight. Or is there? Turns out that Michel Ancel told french publication JeuxVideo that they began production on a sequel. Get this, they started a year ago. A team of 10~12 staff members have been working on the preliminary game assets.
So what's the hold up? Ubisoft hasn't given the green light to the project. I expect all of you to be calling their home office and complaining at any moment now. Please, won't someone think of the orphan children?

Huh, guess I had better actually finish that game. I am in the last dungeon but I never actually finished. I suppose I'll have to start over at this point...
I know this was one of those hits that snuck underneath the radar much like Okami and Planescape Torment, unfortunately, I don't think it deserves the title.
It's a good game, just not amazing mainly because midway through the game it all got a bit the same. Too much sneaking around, and every dungeon was basically the same. It can get a bit boring since you don't really get anything new in terms of new gameplay nor locations. It's still a good game since its well built and the mini games can break up the monotone main storyline.
Would I get the second game? I'm not sure, maybe just for the continuation of the story.
Oh YES!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ever since I finnished this little gem I've been hoping for a sequel.
The game blew me out of my socks.
The story grabbed me and wouldn't let go, the art direction was fantastic (a futuristic version of Venice, how great is that?) and the characters felt so real.
It even felt a bit zelda-ish at some times which is never a bad thing.
My only complaint is that I thought it was a little short.
I liked it so much that I didn't want it to end.

GayGamer, don't you be teasing me! I've only been going crazy for a sequel for what feels like eternity. If this is true, I'm reserving a copy right away.
I loved the game. Only the ending was a little disappointing but, as many suspected, it left a chance for a sequel. Man did they take their time to do so.
Somehow my comment about this didn't get through. So, repost!
I believe this deserves a celebration! Let's go annoy the neighbors by blaring the Propaganda Song at full volume and randomly shouting "CARLSONNN AAAND PEETERSSSS!" at passerby.
Cool. I really enjoyed the first game, but the ending was really unsatisfying (you could tell they were planning on a sequel). Hopefully this will tie up (blatantly) unexplained story elements and keep the super cool game play!
She's so gay,
whats GTA IV compared to Miss Jade? Nothing! i can see it now better looking than Rachet way sexier than Mario and not as fast as Sonic. (did someone say Lara?)
Most anticipated game ever(ok, along with MGS4 & FFXIII)
I'm with MME. I went into the game expecting a sweet action platformer, and that's what I got.... until halfway through, when it suddenly and inexplicably turned into a stealth game with awkward controls (both on the PS2 and Gamecube.)
Never did actually finish it, but thanks for letting me know it's an open-ended story without a satisfying ending. Maybe sometime I'll play through again and use some kind of invulnerability cheat code to allow me to just bash my way through the agonizing stealth sections.
