Nintendo Announces Worldwide Mario Kart Wii Tournaments

You think you got what it takes to be a Mario Kart World Champion? Well now you have your chance to prove it. Nintendo announced this morning that it will be offering various Mario Kart tournaments through the new Mario Kart channel on the Wii. Each week a different challenge will appear with each one offering unique challenges on the given track. To spice things up a bit, new rules or obstacles will be added to the pre-existing tracks so no one will have an advantage. You can try each challenge as many times as you like during the duration of the tournament and your best score will be posted with the worldwide rankings.
The first tournament starts today and will have racers competing fo the fastest time on the Mario Circuit. They warn us to look closely however as something may be different! So get on out there and drive your way to the top of the list. It would be awesome to see one of our own make it to number one. Of course there is no "prize" but you can be secure in the knowledge that you rule the global school in Mario Kart and will be the envy of geeks and nerds around the world.

Too bad I can't connect to submit my record. I think there are too many people on the WFC, so I get timed out and an error code. The "something different" is MINI SPOILERS!
The Chain Chomps are not tethered to posts, they are roaming free on the track going in the opposite direction. They have ? blocks trailing behind them too, like they do in the DS "Peach Garden" track.
