"Realistic" Sonic Dashes His Way Into Your Nightmares

Artist Marcus Blättermann, a student at Germany's Burg Giebichenstein - University of Art and Design, decided that "the Hedgehog" part of Sonic the Hedgehog had been neglected far too long. As a result, he's offered up this version of Sega's speedster, hewing a little closer to the mascot's namesake animal.
In the end I decided to give him a color-pattern that resembles a West European Hedgehog but facial proportions that stick to Sonic himself. His white gloves and the red shoes he kept as another link to the original, but the shoes underwent a little redesign. In addition his body looks like that of a runner, making it more believable that he can run at such high speeds.
"Realistic" probably isn't the best word for the creation. "Absolutely terrifying" is closer. Still, it's better than the previous best effort. It also reminds me more than a little bit of this episode from Jim Henson's Storyteller, which absolutely destroyed me as a kid.
Blättermann is also responsible for the dino-fied Bowser from a few weeks back, and if you like these two pieces, make sure and check out his portfolio, although note that some sections of the site might be considered NSFW.

Wheres your Sonic porn NOOOOOOOOOOOW?
That looks like something off the Island of Dr. Moreau that went horribly wrong and was dumped in the ocean. Nice job by the artist though. let's see Sega market that.
That's fairly terrifying. At least a realistic Tails would still be adorable.
