Rumorama: Shenmue 1&2 For Wii?
Yep, rumors are fun. I know I said before that I don't like posting on them, but if I liked the game I'm not going to pass them up. The first game I bought for my Dreamcast all those years ago was Shenmue. A friend of mine showed me the game, and it really sold me on the console. I liked the fact that just about everything in the game was tactile. Unfortunately, this series has seen a little... trouble as far as releases go. Sega can't seem to stick to a console, and their release delays are ridiculous, and who knows if Shenmue 3 will ever see the light of day.
In the Swedish publication GameReactor, there was a small blurb about the future of this series:
"Shenmue is back!" "Sega has rereleased classics like Nights,Bass Fishing and House of the Dead lately. Now it's said that Shenmue is next. But don't think that it's about a new game, instead, they're bringing back the two original Shenmue games with extra Wiimote-minigames which will be released for the Wii."
Whaaa? The validity of this is questionable, seeing as Sweden got it first. Not to say anything bad about them, but serious, who makes first announcements there? If this turns out to be true, be prepared for the object examination to be motion controlled (it's like you're really holding that pan!) and a whole slew of gimmicky motion controlled mini games. I don't think I want to know what they could be doing with the "I'm looking for a sailor" bit.

Well, the first confirmation of a Nights sequel did come from a Swedish magazine...
I wouldn't dismiss it because it's from a european magazine, we've had our share of print sources bringing "exclusive" first news, such as the above commenter said about nights. Shooting it down because it's not in EGM or whatever just makes you and your site look like douches.
With that said, the original text first reads like it's a rumor, and then changes into something that reads like factual news. But really, this is such a small news item it's not at all unlikely to get out to some 2nd rate scandinavian eurotrash game rag.
Had the news been that Sega was making a Shenmue 3 after all these years and ridiculous budgets afforded to the previous installments and all they managed to print was 6 lines of 2 inch text then yeah I'd be skeptical if it was presented as news.
Sega has been happy with Wii ports recently, so it sounds realistic enough. Sad thing is that I would buy it again since MS doesn't want to get it working on 360.
I hope this is true, because I'll be picking it up.
I never got the chance to play either of these games back in the day and would jump at the chance to play them on my wii.
This sounds cool. I have the first one on DC but never got to play the second.
Sadly I have read that there will be no more installments in the series. I still can't remember the place I read it at though.
Game-boi, Shenmue 2 is on the 360 BC list...
I don't ever buy games a second time around, but I think I'm going make an exception for Shenmue.
