Time To Panic? Disaster: Day Of Crisis Delayed Indefinitely

In a press release from Nintendo of Japan, Monolith Soft's Wii-exclusive Disaster: Day of Crisis has been removed from the 2008 release list, with no new date expected anytime soon. According to QJ.net, the press release states that the "game's development period was extended in order to increase the quality of the finished product," which sounds like corporate-speak for "don't hold your breath."
The last time we saw anything about the game, we got a short article, a few photos reconfirming its existance, and a Japanese release date of July 3rd. Hopefully they're not starting from scratch and a 2009 date is still in the cards, but it sounds like someone high up got a peek, decided it needed a significant amount of time, and stuffed it back in the oven.
It's not that Nintendo hasn't delayed games before. In fact, Nintendo games are usually delayed a few months or even years. I think concern about the title's continued existence comes from the fact that it doesn't fit into the company's designs at the moment. It doesn't seem particularly appealing to casual gamers, and there are no mascots to be found, unless we can expect Mr. Beardo over there to show up in the next Super Smash Bros. Perhaps they're taking Disaster back to try and sell it to action movie-loving Dads who've got no interest in yoga or measuring their BMI? At least that would be a better idea than shoe-horning the plumber into the game and calling it Mario Rescue!

Darn, was looking forward to this mature game. Seemed like an interesting concept as well. Plus the hero was good looking.
This disappointing news. Day of Crisis looked really good, and the Wii is lacking in actual games that are good right now :/
I thought it was supposed to be James Hetfield at first.
