Video: Samba De Amigo Trailer A Callback To A Younger Sega
After watching this initially bored and eventually jubilant family suffer the latin sounds of Samba de Amigo, I become soft and sentimental for the good ole' days of Sega marketing. Back in the safety of the early 90's, Sega would employ a similar atmosphere of complete and total boredom in rendering gamers enduring the wares of their competitors, much like the tired board game displayed at the opening of this commercial. Although, back then, Sega would not have to explicitly designate the board game as being a "bored game," as is shown here, for it is obvious that the employment of the imagination has suffered and decayed since then.
There are certain aspects of early Sega that are absent here: The mother and father are retaining their neat hairstyles as opposed to touching the controller and becoming electrocuted by the extreme levels of "coolness" juicing through the plastic casing. Most noticeably absent is the jarring Sega scream, though it would still well apply here given that it were to sound explicitly Latin or Spanish.
While Sega no longer does what Nintendon't, a steady convoy of zany videos featuring monkeys and maracas should keep their coffers filled.

Suffer the latin sounds? Dude, Samba De Amigo is awesome. It was great on the Dreamcast, and I have no doubt it'll be great on the Wii.
Anyways, Can't wait!
