Violence Abounds In Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe

Ever since Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe was confirmed to be a legitimate title, and not some elaborate hoax, a primary dread has loomed over the new IP: What about the fatalities? This question first appeared shortly after the game was announced, and many gamers were appalled by the idea of a watered down Mortal Kombat experience.
In an interview with GameSpot, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe director, and Mortal Kombat series pioneer, Ed Boon, addressed the question of fatalities and game violence directly:
Certain animations, blood effects, and sound effects that we have in the game are really pushing the T-rating envelope.
All of the MK characters and all of the DC villains will have fatalities. The DC heroes who don't kill that often will have brutalities that will function just like fatalities but don't actually kill the opponent.
While it is reassuring to know that fatalities will be present for the Kombat crew, and the DC party will be able to retaliate in their own, unique fashion, the presence of a T-rating looms heavily over any anticipated expectations for the game.
