Game Center CX Debut In NYC!
Maybe it's the Sea-foam green jumper / orange tie combo, but I have a little boy crush on Shinya Arino. Game Center CX is a Japanese show (and a fantastic Nintendo DS game) where our good pal Arino is forced to play bloody-thumb inducing classic video games on the air while his co-workers laugh at him. They include little facts and tidbits about the video games, and occasionally offer him advise and cheats. The goal of each episode is for him to finish the game, but I've only seen it happen a short handful of times.
Much to my dismay, this has been a Japan only affair so far, but it appears that Game Center CX, now called "Retro Game Master", is being release on sub-titled DVD for all regions, and is being debuted at the New York Asian Film Festival! The showing are as follows:
MYSTERY OF ATLANTIS screens Saturday 6/21 at 11:00 am, Wednesday 6/25 at 11:30 am, and Saturday 6/28 at noonGHOSTS AND GOBLINS - screens Sunday 6/22 at 11:00 am,
Wednesday 7/2 at 11:30 am, and Sunday 6/29 at noon
If you're in the New York Metro area (which I am not), stop by and give it a watch (youtube for everyone else). The show is fantastic, and frankly I'm going to be snagging the DVDs when they come our way.
