Level 70 Orc Hunter Runs For Connecticut State Legistlature

A few days ago GamePolitics broke the amazing story that a Level 70 Orc Hunter was running for office as a Republican in Connecticut. Now, Jeanne Stevens is speaking up about what it's like to be an Orc living in Connecticut, why a greenskin would run as a Republican (given the Horde's rather stubborn position in favor of immigration), and most importantly - about being a politician and a gamer.
First the fun stuff:
I have three characters... a 70 Orc hunter (12 beast mastery, 26 marksman, 23 survival); 58 Troll shaman (43 elemental, 6 enhancement); and, a 53 Blood Elf rogue (36 assassination, 5 combat, 3 subtlety)... I dislike PvPand generally only tag my characters if I'm on a specific quest. I play to relax and typically will help one of my younger sons with their quests - they have multiple low level characters. I guess I'm mostly PvE.
Ok, so I'm officially a member of the Jeanne Stevens fan club. She can join my PUG any time. But - listen to this - she's got genuinely intelligent commentary on the hot-button issue of video games and children:
Parents need to start parenting! You are the adult. You are responsible for what happens within your home. If you don't like the content of a t.v. show, game, book, etc., don't allow it in your home - that is your choice - you get to be the legislator, you make the laws of your home. Don't abdicate that responsibility to the government. Exercise your own common sense - way back when, I enjoyed listening to Howard Stern on my commute to work - if he was getting too raunchy for my tastes, I changed the dial - and, I never listened to him if my kids were in the car.
Holy sh**, she's awesome! Common sense? Parents parenting? Can I buy this Orc dinner?
WoW is the sum total of my experience. We'll get Lich King when it comes out. The boys play Xbox live, Halo and Call of Duty series, though Guitar Hero is getting quite a bit of play now. As a parent, I will not allow GTA in my home - that is my choice. If you'd like to play it in your home, go for it.
That's exactly how a well-informed mother of four should sound. She's not freaking out (typical Orcish stoicism), and she's not blaming anyone else for the content of media that comes into her home. Are Orcs the new moderates? What's next, 'Thrall for President?'
WoW-playing Legislative Candidate Talks About Her Level 70 Orc Hunter [Gamepolitics]

If I lived in CT, she would totally have my vote.
Yeah, great find, but what the eff is with her spec?
Yeah obviously a n00b.
OMG she is awesome. The best part is that CT Republican = Democrat in most other areas of the country, so I wouldn't feel so bad voting for her.
It's nifty she's a gamer, but given that she's a Republican that makes it likely she's against gay marriage.
Even so, the CT Republicans barely have influence like the MA Republicans. its like 107-44 margin. CT also has civil unions, not pressured by the courts and supported by legislators and signed by their governor.
And a Guam representative is also a WOW player too.
Aw my god that's so cool! Haha, I wish I still lived in CT! She's a fellow horde member I'd have to vote for her!
well that's a neat thing to know about CT, which is where i live.
Civil unions are a joke, not to mention insulting. It's like being able to ride the bus but being forced to sit in the back.
Yes yes! Cause only a horde member would be this awesome unlike say... allies
*gets stoned to death by alliance members*
Seriously, if she ended publice speeches on a "for the horde", she'd win the election hands down. Motivate Geeks politically, and the rest will follow. Although it would be kinda nice to know more about her agenda. Interview her?
