Rumor: "Avatars" Are Microsoft's Mii
Nintendo have had their Mii since the launch of the Wii, and Sony's Home should bring a similar functionality to the PS3, but Microsoft haven't really elaborated on plans beyond their current system of Xbox Live gamertags and pics. A lot of rumors have buzzed around Microsoft lately, from waggle to Blu Ray, and so far all have been met with "no comment" to outright denials. It looks like we'll probably have to wait until E3 to get confirmation about any of them.
In the meantime, can you pick out the famous people and characters in the image? I see Bono (maybe), that kid from the Incredibles, and a few others are on the tip of my tongue. If the image is accurate, it looks like Avatars will exist somewhere between the cartoony Mii and realistic Home creations. And if you can really dress them up in bunny suits, you can bet that furries will be thrilled.

On one hand they're more generic than Miis.
On the other hand they seem as customizable as the Miis should have been.
My first thought was Lester from Beakman's World, but I guess that avatar's ears do look more bunny-like than rat-like.
So does this mean all of those gamer pics are now useless? Way to bitch slap your customers....
do we need to participate in this nonsense? what if I like my gamerpic as Alucard, and don't want a Mii-60 Avatar?
