Video: Capcom Announces Spyborgs
Capcom's Captivate '08 (which we were unfortunately unable to attend) is just brimming with news this morning. A new game has been announce exclusively for the Wii called Spyborgs and is being developed by Bionic Games which is comprised of former members of Insomniac and High Impact. The action adventure title will focus on the antics of five bionic super spies whom the player will be able to embody during different parts of the game.
Players jump between the identities of a team of five bionic superspies to combat a rogue squad of wacky, dysfunctional super villains. Each character has unique powers to match their super-spy skills, such as heavy firepower, martial arts, bladed weaponry, acrobatic skateboarding skills or pure robotic destruction. This cast of characters may make a misfit group individually, but by utilizing them as a team, the Spyborgs will have the power to save the world - if they don't blow themselves up first! Spyborgs' tongue-in-cheek action and compelling interactive cartoon theme keeps players engaged from the first episode to the last with one of the most fun and entertaining games to be developed for the Wii system.
Sounds like it could be a good time and I am interested to see how Bionic Games will interpret their "Saturday morning cartoon" world. There are not a whole lot of visuals out for now, but the above teaser trailer should give you a little bit of an idea what it's all about. A definite tongue in cheek humor is present here and the ability to play mini-games that serve as commercial breaks is a pretty great little gimmick. Mark me down as cautiously curious.
