Video: Dissidia: Final Fantasy J-Trailer
I don't understand a word of this lengthy and gorgeous Japanese trailer for the forthcoming PSP juggernaut from Square Enix, Dissidia: Final Fantasy.
Set up as a 3D fighting game, Dissidia brings together characters from all veins of Final Fantasy games in a Smash Bros-style rumble overseen by the warring deities of Cosmos and Chaos.
Characters from FFI battle it out against FFIX's Zidane, while Tidus, Squall Leonheart, and (hopefully) Cloud Strife stand up to Judge Gabranth, Sephiroth, and of course a very-much-alive Aeris/Aerith. Check out the vid to see who else you can spot!
It's good to see the PSP getting love, hopefully Final Fantasy fans will find something here to grab onto when the game comes out - no release date has been set for North America, but the Japanese will have it on September 13.

There's no Gabranth or Aerith in that trailer, silly!
The one you think is Gabranth is actually Garland from the first Final Fantasy. And there's no other women besides Ultimecia (from FF 8) and the goddess Cosmos in that trailer. But hopefully there'll be more...
As a real-life Erisian (Discordian), I find the dodgy Final Fantasy spelling of the name of the Goddess to be quite chavvy & disrespectful.

Also, the character having it out with Zidane is Leon from FFII. The only FFI character (so far) is the Warrior of Light.

I'm just satisfied that they finally remember that there were characters before Final Fantasy VII. Definitely saw Cecil and I'm pretty sure I saw a quick glance of Kain.
To me it looks like the good guys are Squall, Zidane, Light Warrior, Firion (FF2), and Tidus. The bad guys are Garland, Kefka, Sephiroth, Kuja, and Ultimacia.
Firion is the guy who is standing next to Squall and the flamboyantly dressed guy (not talking about Kuja) they're in standing in front of (I think..) is a post-fab 5 version of Kefka. Those were the two guys that took me a while to figure out. I also thought Garland was Golbez at first.
oh wow! I can't wait for this game...to be released on the PS2 as well. It's only a matter of time, right? ...hopefully.
I really hope most, if not all, of the FF characters in Ehrgeiz are in Dissidia!
