Wootini's Weekly Wii Fit Update #5

wootiniweek5.jpg

I know it says Update #5 up there, but technically this is only my fourth week of playing Wii Fit. The first entry was done the day I got it, so it doesn't really count. As you can see, I'm down to around 178 pounds, from 184 to start. Not the most massive of weight losses, but I'm still pretty proud. I suspect that most of that weight loss came from watching what I eat, because weighing yourself every day does make you more aware of what you're putting in your body, since the aerobic exercises never feel like they're doing much. I've got a whole bunch more after the jump!

I still enjoy the rhythm boxing, but the hula hoop is incredibly boring to do for anything longer than a few minutes and the step is barely a warm-up. So I went back to the running, opting to find some music with the right beats per minute to play in the background. I've made a whole playlist of appropriate music in my iTunes, and now running is much less boring. The scenery never changes, and watching the Miis jog by has lost its appeal. Although I did enjoy watching one of them wave at me as he jogged past only to trip and fall flat on his face. Heh.

For the first time during this past week, I awoke at the usual time and actually didn't want to do it. It felt like a chore. But I sucked it up and played anyway, because I really am starting to see results. My posture has improved, and I can feel my abs are much tighter. Heck, if I didn't still have that layer of fat around my midsection, you might even be able to see them better! Also during this week, I reached the 10 hour mark for total playing time. The little piggy bank told me so and then changed colors. It's sort of a copper color, so I suspect it's bronze, to turn silver and gold eventually.

Oh, by the way, that red dot on the chart? That's where my weight spiked up by 1.1 pounds. Now, my weight has spiked before, but for some reason, this time, the game pointed it out and asked me why I thought I'd gained weight. It wasn't even that much! How rude! Anyway, it gave me a selection of options, and while I initially thought to select that I had no idea how it happened, I opted for "I had a late night snack." Because I did, even if it wasn't that much. Now, if you hold the pointer over that red dot, in addition to telling you the date and weight, but the Mii in the corner now admits to the late night snack in a little word balloon that pops up.

The game remains oddly picky at times, yet strangely forgiving in other ways. During the step challenge, I put my right foot down instead of my left, and it didn't even seem to notice. But other times, when I would sidestep, it wouldn't register. Also, during the push-up challenge, when you stop, the trainer keeps going. I guess it's the way to give you the opportunity to get in one or two more as you struggle to keep up, but I'd rather it stop humiliating me!
