Carrie Underwood Will Probably Not Be Playing Bangai-O Spirits

At Anime Expo, 1Up's Andrew Fitch got his hands on Treasure's DS shooter Bangai-O Spirits, and it seems he had a tough time of it. In fact, he called it perhaps the most "niche" game he's ever seen.
I'm playing through the quick-twitch expert levels of Space Invaders Extreme right now -- and loving every second -- yet I found myself quickly overwhelmed by Bangai-O Spirits' puzzling interface and ravenous, perpetually rushing foes. Forget "bullet hell" -- we're talking freakin' bullet armageddon here! I know the game holds appeal for a select crowd, and that's fine -- but some players might see "Treasure shooter" and think it's a must-buy. No. This makes the developer's notoriously hardcore Ikaruga look mainstream.
So basically, don't expect to see any American Idols or Ugly Bettys playing this while taking a break on the set. Or maybe I'm wrong, and Nintendogs has gifted them with massive twitch skills. I actually probably side with the casuals here (I get cross-eyed just looking at screen-shots) but I'm sure that this level of challenge has set more than a few fingers a-tingle.

Mon dieu... I watched a video of the game play. Sick! I think I could play it, but not for "Hundreds of levels." That's really really just not my kind of game... Now I'm gonna go replay FFVIII.
If it's anything like the first game for the Dreamcast, then I'm going to love it.
Yeah, I played the original version on Dreamcast, and it remains one of my all time favorite games. Yes it's chaotic, but it's really not ultra-difficult at all.
I dont read japanese, but I have played the import version and it looks like theres a level editor also. Bangai-O ftw!
