E3 '08: More Dirt On Animal Crossing: City Folk

Image of a real puppy with KK Slider's heavy eyebrows.

As one of the crown jewels in Nintendo's E3 2008 lineup, Animal Crossing: City Folk continues to impress as more of the game's features are laid out. What follows are some of the major points revealed during Nintendo's Developers Roundtable question and answer session.

- Halloween is returning from the original Gamecube release, as is the Jingle character for the winter holiday season.
- WiiConnect 24 will feed players new items and surprises.
- New to 'City Folk is a city theater that puts on comedy skits.
- You can visit your friend's city without them needing to be there.
- The Able Sisters will now allow you to decorate the front, back, and sleeves of your shirts.
- 'City Folk interacts with the Photo Channel so that you can send pictures to your friends or save them to a SD card.
- If you have a friend that leaves the town, the connection will disappear for everyone...just like Wild World
- Animal Crossing: Wild World fans can transport their character to City Folk, and gamers can also transport their collections. All this requires is a visit to Tom Nook in the Wii version. (!!!YES!!!)
- Players without WiFi can take their City Folk character data with them on their Nintendo DS to visit a friend's town.
- Brand new (i.e. not hidden on the disc) downloadable content is being developed for the game.
- Bummer, classic Nintendo games will not be returning.
- City Folk will not interact with the Wii Forecast Channel, as has been speculated.
- Gamers within the southern hemisphere will see their seasons inverted from gamers in the northern hemisphere.

Wow. As a complete and total nut for the Animal Crossing series, November 16 could not get here fast enough. For all of you that have let your Animal Crossing: Wild World towns languish under a heavy overgrowth of weeds, you now have a good incentive to spruce things up in preparation for Animal Crossing: City Folk's launch.

Thats a bit of a disappointment. This is the kinda thing that the Wii Forecast Channel would work so well with.

Cool K.K. dog! :)

Anyways, there are good and bad things, and I'm a geek for this game! I can't believe they didn't integrate the weather channel, but then again I need to log onto it to update sometimes. Also why not just let us play VC games straight from our AC houses? That would be cool, or access other channels.

For the most part I'm glad I won't have to start from scratch! So I'm gonna go earn some bells! :)

Hm. I need more details on importing my Wild World game from the DS to my Wii. On the one hand, I'd love to have Monty move to my town with me, but on the other, I'm not sure I want to already have all my stuff to start with. Half the fun of Animal Crossing is collecting things and paying off Tom Nook to build your house up from scratch. Unless I can bring over all my rap but not have enough house to store it all!

What does this mean exactly - will the UK played versions of the game not always be in a downpour of rain then? XD
