E3 '08: Video: DC Universe Online

Hm. I may have to look into getting a PlayStation 3 (or a PC). We may have a possible system seller here in Sony Online's DC Universe Online. The Marvel Comics MMO may have come to a tragic end (although no one ever really dies for good in comics, right?), but the "Distinguished Competition's" game is looking awful strong. I'm not sure about whether it really looks like it's harnessing "the true power of your PlayStation 3 system," but it looks pretty enough. Don't get too excited, though. You'll be creating your own character to fight or fight alongside the big guns like Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. Still, I rather like the idea of creating my own superhero for an MMO set in an established comic book universe. I want to fight Killer Croc alongside Nightwing and then go for a beer afterwards to celebrate our victory. What do you mean you don't think that's going to be part of the game? Well, it should be.

Of course, while my inner comic geek appreciates that Jim Lee was tapped to design the characters, he's also a little cheesed off at Wonder Woman's costume. The Mortal Kombat game screwed up Flash, and now they're messing with Wonder Woman? Sigh. At least everyone else looks pretty accurate. Well, until continuity changes again in a few months!

Okay I couldn't see her costume very well from the video, but I'm not sure overall what is wrong with it lol. The way too golden top?

Wootini said:

No, the skirt.

Oh yes I see now, somehow I missed that close up clip.

Someone confused Wonder WOman with Xena!

The Golden Age Wonder Woman had the skirt. She was part of the original Justice Society in the 1940's.

Not sure with all the retcons but I think she is/was Hippolyta from the future, Diana's mother and queen of the Amazons.

Dustin said:

Yes she had a skirt, but I think Wootini's issue is what they did to her skirt. They made it look very Xena-like.

I like it better than the star-spangled panties. That's actually authentic Greek, which is why Xena had it.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
