Movie: Max Payne Movie Trailer
Recently put out to help whet your appetite is the trailer for the upcoming Max Payne movie adaptation due out in theaters in October. The trailer actually looks pretty decent and like it contains a lot of the elements that made the Max Payne series so great: revenge, painkillers, crazy dream sequences, exposition on Max's past, and Mona Sax; however, I have to admit that the references (and images) to angels and demons has me a little confused, but that could all be dream sequences or something else. I know a lot of you are just happy to see Marky Mark strut his stuff on the silver screen, and let's just hope is acting performance outshines his recent role in The Happening. As for Mila Kunis (Jackie from That 70's Show), who would have thought she'd clean up so well to play the Mona Sax role. Well, I do have to say the trailer has sparked my interest, maybe due to the look, more likely due to Marky Mark, yum.

wow i just thought about max payne yesterday
crazy, his name is kind of silly. lol
It does look pretty good!!
I dearly hope this is good. It'd be neat if they have "graphic novel" segments interspersed throughout the movie to further tie in with the "feel" of the games. I utterly love the Max Payne games (especially MP2), so I'm anxious to see this. Honestly if the entire movie had some sort of filter over it to make it look like the graphic novel segments in the games it'd be amazing.
I dunno if Mark looks the part, but if he gives even half as good a performance as he did in "The Departed", I think we're in for a treat.
This trailer is of a much better quality than the YouTube link above:

Looking forward to this movie, and to 3D Realms' upcoming Alan Wake game. I'd also love a Max Payne 3 game as well.
"...I have to admit that the references (and images) to angels and demons has me a little confused, but that could all be dream sequences or something else."
PixelPoet, the angels and demons, if I'm correct, are visual metaphors for the drug Valkyr, which figures centrally in the story of the first Max Payne game. There were liberal references to Norse mythology (3D Realms is a Scandinavian studio after all) and the 'bird men' in the movie extend this further. If you remember, the game's story pits Max Payne against Aesir, a huge corporation that manufactures drugs.
Valkyr was the experimental chemical they were working on to help create an army of invincible super soldiers to the highest bidder. Somehow the drug leaked to the streets, igniting Max's own personal hell when a bunch of Valkyr crazed junkies broke into his home and shotgunned to death his wife and baby. If you did the game you'll remember you got to play through that sequence, which started the entire game. It was hard for me to watch the cutscene, unexpected and shocking.
It does look good, but he isn't scowling anywhere near as much as he should be in that trailer.
